Welcome to one of the most extraordinary places on God’s earth. Through the ages, St Michael’s Mount has been a major spiritual centre, a military stronghold, a thriving port and a much loved family home. It attracts archaeologists, artists and art critics, geologists, historians, horticulturists, musicians and pilgrims. Others are drawn by the beauty of the place or for the challenge of the climb or to sample the wonderful views.

In 1954, the St Aubyn family gave St Michael’s Mount to the National Trust on the basis that they would continue to live in the castle on a 999 year lease and hold the licence to operate the visitor business. Therefore St Michael’s Mount is an unique partnership between the National Trust, who underpin the island’s  long term future, and the St Aubyns who run the island on a day to day basis as they have done for more than 350 years.
